you do not have a fringer

Post by toye on 2012-06-20, 16:17

The project I am doing needs a lot of fingers, I do have a fringer but it is round 15 years old and little rusty and out of fashion. So I had to fringe my flowers by hand. Pooooo lol! what job, so I came up with an idea Idea which might help newbie’s and other quillers? I cut my paper to the lengths I needed, placed them on top of each other and fixed then with a paper clip and cut. Now and then you have to move the paper clip so you can continue until you get to the end. Well that got things done a bit quicker. I hope this has given you a little tip. have a great day

Toye... i cut all my own fringing... so I know the pain.
I found a bull clip worked really well. I would cut up to the Bull clip, and then move it along the strip. All the cuts would then be the same length, and all the strips stayed nice and tidy while cutting.

Thanks Kurlikins I do have a Bull clip, but I forgot about that. My hobby room is one big mess at the moment. I found something even better, I love to mooch in shops. There I found scissors that have 5 blades fitted together; they are meant to be use for cutting herbs. Yep they work also on paper so one cut and I have 4 cuts at one time Wooow, each cut is about 2.5mm for larger flowers it does the job.

Wow Toye, that sounds like a pretty interesting scissor, But I am pretty sure I wont find anything like that in South AFrica but I am going to have a look.

Hi angielove,I do not know if this will help to find those scissors I mentioned. I found them in the gardening department, I would like to send them to you, but I do not know about the customs and duty they are pretty under security what’s being sent to different Counties. I hope you do find them they are truly a great help, and you can still use the bull clip good luck in searching

hi angielove, these scissors can be purchased on the marthstewart.com website.
hope you can get them. Although i use the bulldog clip myself. Another quick way of fringing is folding the stripover a few times, then cut. Good Luck cheers
