A "Hairy" Situation

Post by quillingsavy on 2010-03-15, 04:11

OK, so how do you do the hair on your quilled people, particularily the 3D people?

I usually take a 2 or 3 inch strip, and cut it in thirds, and twirl it to make it curly- and "loosen" it to make it more wavy. I then fold the top part for the gluing, and lightly "fold" it to form to the head. Over, and over again, till the hair has 3 layers to it, so it's nice and full! Sometimes, I even put little sidebangs on it. Takes a while...I've even made a curly moustache for ma king!

Hair

Post by Jean on 2010-03-22, 15:14

When I have needed to create hair I often use cotton sewing threads in different thickness and also Knitting yarn can look good, heaps of colours and textures. I have used fine paper strips as well but coil before attaching.

For my angel ornaments, i do loose rolls for hair. They are not true 3D, though.
