Hi Everyone I'm new here

Post by colleen on 2010-07-05, 14:16

Well hi everyone. I am new to this site and new to quilling. I found out about quilling from the internet, YOU TUBE I thought it would be interesting to do and I went out and purchased some items to use from a craft shop where I live (the tool I bought broke) now I have ordered another one from creative quilling website, a steel one that will not break. I am going to try and make the ornamental ball. Wish me luck I think I will need it.

The steel tool is a good one to have.
Good luck with your ornamental ball

Hi Colleen
it is a wonderful Tutorial that Jody put up with that ornamental ball and yes, your metal tool will outlast you, the only way you can damage it is if you run over it with a truck lol!
if you do roll a tight coil the slot will narrow but just poke something in the slot and enlarge it to the desired size you want it. I also was notorious for breaking my wooden tools too. After 3 of them I got my metal one and never looked back. It goes everywhere with me.
Any help, yell out, we are here for you

No, Karon. Actually, you can damage the metal slot tool if the ends are pressed together, somehow (I did it SOMEHOW Rolling Eyes, at one point), and you can't take it apart. But then it wouldn't be beyond repair, because you could try to pull it back apart with your nails if you can, which I did and has worked. So really, it is hard to get it beyond repair Laughing. Nails are good and bad for quilling. Good for using your nail to press it in a shoebox to hold your quilling in place, and bad for when your being fiddly and messing with tiny quilled things Laughing.

I am done jabbering!
