Curved Spirals

Post by Jocelyneliza on 2010-07-26, 07:52

Has anyone any tips on attaching curved spirals like around the edge of an oval cutout? I have always strugged with spirals and have never been happy with the result so would really appreciate any help.

Hi Jocelyneliza,
I am not by any means an expert, but i find if you glue a small section of card at a time and place your spiral down then do the next section, it is easier to manage than gluing the whole lot at once.
I make my spiral on a needle tool.

Thanks heaps Bronwyn I think you have solved my problem.

Boy do I feel dumb! Have been quilling for over 20 years and have not thought to put the glue on the the card! I have always put glue on the spiral and then tried to attach it to the card. Of course the spiral then goes "crazy" and nearly impossible to control.

I tried to research this on the web and found nothing about gluing the spiral down. One good tip I found though was to use a thin doll needle to roll the spiral.
