HI All
found this link to an ebay item in Hong Kong for quilling strips. They are rolls of cartoon paper strips

Quilling strips link 2

What would you do with these besides fringed flowers? It would probably only be coloured one side I would expect

Hi Karon,
These can be used to make stars.....there is a folded star pattern which originated in Japan or Korea I think.
I will try and find a link to instructions

Sounds interesting but wouldn't that be more origami than quilling that she advertises it for?

yes origami is the main use.

Here is a tutorial for the stars

I have seen all sorts of paper strips available for these in a shop in Melbourne that sells all those cute Korean and Japanese dolls, Miss Kitty things etc

Most of my Asian friends make these stars which are given in friendship or for luck. Everyone agrees they originated in Japan and you often find them in origami books.

They are usually presented as gifts in a transparent container like the hard plastic hearts, balls, stars etc. which are available in Asian stores or Two Dollar type stores. The Asian stores also sell the strips in plain and patterned. They are fun to make, actually addictive and cute, and also easy for children who love them.

Fantastic, I noticed on your link Heather that she had done a folded rose from the star paper. Looks really nice actually.

Came across another site today for anyone interested in making a corrugated quilled doll (you could crimp your paper with your crimper for a similar effect). Very nice step by step instructions
