I'm feeling really excited because I've just been named as a winner in the November 'Take A Quill Pill' blogspot challenge for a festive card!

http://takeaquillpill.blogspot.com

If you remember, Heather was a winner in last month's challenge.

It would be really great if more members of our forum could take part in future challenges. I think the next one is going to be announced on 1st December.

Here's the card design I won with:

Thanks everyone!

Paula - I don't think it's essential to have a blog to enter, as you can just send in a picture of your work. If I remember right, Heather did not have a blog at the time she entered the October challenge, but started it later. Heather, am I right about this?

Yes, I didn't have a blog and still haven't figured out how to do the blog well yet. I tried to add to it and messed it up.

Great job Philippa,
I was looking at them all several days ago and was so pleased to see your 2 cards on the front page there. I am sure as more people become aware of the challenges they will enter. I wonder being the time of year people may be busy making things. Would love to see a recycling challenge. I was looking at Utines blog and her recycled quilled project was really good, I was very impressed and inspired Sylvester

Thanks everyone for your kind comments!

Karon, I agree with you about Utine's recycled quilling - it's a great idea! Maybe it's time to have another challenge on the forum here?

You are right and Lauren is preparing one now, she was just waiting for the new stock to arrive from overseas for the prizes. I wont spoil it but am sure she will have a post up in the next week. I have just finished probably one of my most enjoyable workshops and last for the year today. I had 12 booked and it went exceptionally well. I had 3 tables of 4 so I wandered between them after I demonstrated the basic coils and they had a play. They made some lovely pieces and really enjoyed themselves. I get so excited to see new ones learning and loving it.
Next week I am ordering my resin casting kit I found on the net now I don't have anymore classes to do. Can you have a look at the kit for me Philippa and see what you think and if it would give me a good starter
resin obsession kit
and if you would recommend having anything else

Hi Karon

I've just had a look at the Resin Obsession site, and the starter kit looks to be very good, with user-friendly instructions which is a bonus! My only reservation would be that you only get a very tiny 4 ounce bottle of resin with this starter kit, which I think would only be enough to make a few very small jewellery items. If you wanted to try making paperweights like I did, you would need quite a lot more resin. Plus the moulds you get with kit appear to be very small, too, so not much space to embed quilling. Now that I've started this reply, I'm not sure I can look back at the site without losing what I've already written here, but it might be worth checking back to see if they do larger quantities of resin and bigger moulds, depending on what you want to do. There's a link in the post I did a few months ago on resin casting which suggests a UK supplier - if you visit their site you can get an idea of the resin volume that I originally bought.

Karon, I've just checked back my original post (which is in the Tutorials section), and clicked the link to my supplier - unfortunately it looks as though they don't do the kit I bought any more! But it seems you can get bigger resin quantities from Resin Obsession, so that might be the way to go.
