Amazing butterfly pin

Post by Heather on 2011-05-12, 21:54

I found this on ebay and absolutely love how this was done. Not sure I would ever be able to duplicate it as it looks really intricate. Someone may want to give it a try for the May challenge. Scroll on through the auction and you will see front and back pictures that may give you more of a hint on how it was done. If you figure it out PLEASE PLEASE and PRETTY PLEASE let me know how it is made!

Here is something similar.....looks like the same person may have done both. A quilled shamrock.

Looks like they just "tied" the paper..then loosened it up where the petals/leaves are, left it tight for the center piece, then used the remaining tight pieces for the stems.

I've seen this before and have been racking my brain trying to figure out where! Smile

Good one Heather, I have now spent two hours and forty strips of paper trying to work this out.

rollin pin

Have now decided to get out my silk knotting cord and give it a go tomorrow.

Thank you, very intriguing.

Thanks Sheree, I am still trying to figure out the butterfly. I can get the knot but still trying to figure out how to look it quilled.

Thanks Sheree, this one seems a little easier and I am with you Heather, I can do the knots with cord but when I try it with multiple strips of paper it gets frustrating.

Am going to try pinning it out on a corkboard like you would with Chinese Knotting while trying to keep the frustration level as low as possible.
