| Hi All Saw an advert in the local paper for an Estate antique auction, among the lots listed was 6 arts and crafts, well I got all excited about the arts and craft treasured stored away, the boxes of stamps, hoped lots of quilling stuff, craft mags etc and talked hubby into going. Arrived at the hall for viewing time, went through the whole hall 3 times, looking under tables, in suitcases and could not find the "arts and crafts" lots anywhere. Finally asked the auctioneer where the arts and crafts lots were and he proceeded to point out a bed, chest of drawers etc.. silly me said "oh its furniture, not a box of arts and craft things" he had a giggle and told me arts and crafts is used to refer to period of furniture. Well I didn't get my "arts and crafts" but did buy a dining table, chairs and lovely sideboard.....bummer there wasn't six boxes of arts and crafts stuff from a deceased estate like I thought. At least next time I will be more educated and not spend nearly 1 hour searching for something that isn't there . |

| Actually the Arts & Craft movement spread here from England. You may like to check out this link below. You can choose some of their designs to do in quilling. Artists such as Charles Rennie MacIntosh and William Morris have patterns in their art that lend themselves to quilling.

| That sounds like something I would do, you really brightened my day Jo with a good hearty laugh. Thanks Bronwyn for the info, I had no idea either how they used names to describe the furniture styles (age). I had a read and it is really interesting to see how each era is shaped whether our taste in furniture, clothing or Quilling. New styles, and ideas can really have a great in pact on not only our tastes but on others. Don't you think? Has anyone done any quilling of furniture like they use to do? I saw a chest when I was scouring the net for some interesting ideas and it was just stunning. I would love for you to see it Peach case I put a pic of the king george 111 display cabinet for everyone to see as it is nice to see antique quilling. Does anyone else have any links for us to see?
