I'm new here

Post by Helen on 2011-09-24, 17:28

Hello, I am new here and new to quilling (been doing it about 7 weeks) I am finding it really relaxing. I do most crafts and I live in the Cotswolds, England near to Oxford and Stratford on Avon.

I look forward to joining in.

This seems the easiest that I have found to upload a photo to the gallery:

Go to the "Gallery" category
Click on the album you want to post your photo to
On the upper left you will see a button that says "upload photo"
Then just follow the prompts:
Image = Photo Name
Image description = Whatever you'd like to tell us
Choose your photo from your files
And you can actually change the album where you want your photo to upload.
Once it's there...click the "save" button...and there ya go.. Smile

Hope this helps..if it doesn't..well...I tried! Very Happy

Hi Helen
I'm new too and totally hooked on quilling! I first saw it in July on a cruise ship. I am absolute astounded at how many different things that can be made. Is there some way you can search for a particular picture? Have any aussies tried Australian flowers? Wattle, banksia etc?

Hi Helen and Barb,

Welcome! Hope you have had some fun looking around this site.

Did you have any luck with posting the photos Helen?

Barb - there are some quilling books available that just focus on flowers and in particular Australian Natives. You can view them Here. If you click on the links it will take you to Fishpond books that offer great deals on books and mostly with free shipping.

Hello I have been quilling for about 1 month I find it so relaxing and interesting I was thinking maybe I can teach the girls in my children school in some after school program.

I would be very thankful if you could give some idea to begin with.

Thank you so much

Juanablue welcome,
Depending on the age of the children, simple designs are the best.
Maybe they could make a cardboard bookmark with a flower, fish, butterfly or ladybird at the top.
Or with Christmas coming up, a Christmas card.
Simple Christmas ornaments can be made with loose circles.
Check out the Christmas gallery.
Let us know how you go.

Pleased you found us Juanablue and you will always find help here.

Introducing children to quilling is really satisfying and Bronwyn is right about keeping it simple and making sure they have something, a card or bookmark, to take home. I have found that some 8yos and nine and older have the coordination to use the quilling tool. If I have younger children in a group I always have my 'bits and pieces' box and let them play with that.

They will love it, let us know how it goes.
