A new use for your old powder eyeshadows

Post by Jocelyneliza on 2011-10-20, 11:00

I am sure most of us have old powder eyeshadows just laying round and I have just found a great use for it.

You can use it instead of chalk for most of your shading needs on cards and projects OR, and get this, I think it will work great, I am so excited, I hope you think it is a great idea, now what was I going to say? Oh, yes, hope you understand this, use it to put colour on the edge of your strips just like the gilded paper.

Clip about 10 strips together with bulldog clips and, using a foam applicator, brush on the eyeshadow colour on the edges, a light sweep or two will result in a pale edging and using a heavier sweep and rubbing with your fingers will give a deeper colour and then gently blow off the excess.

This would also look great on the edges of finged flowers.

Please let me know what you think.

O.K. Have tried this out but as I wrote the above thinking it out as I went I found out that putting the colour on can get messy.

So this is what I finished up doing. I made the fringed flowers and coil shapes, used a pair of tweezers to hold them while I dipped them in the eyeshadow colour and then tapped them gently to shake off the excess colour and it works well.

I dipped the fringed flowers in the colour both before and after I had opened the fringing and found it was easier to control the depth of the colour dipping before I opened the flower.

I could not get a decent photo tonight so I will try tomorrow in daylight.

Thanks Jocelyn, I really should try this. I have some old chalk I used in cake decorating.
